A couple of questions??? What sabot does Hornady use in their products??? They look like MMP, but I'm not sure, are they marked on the base or somewhere???
Also, I'm going to order some Speer 270 gr soft points in the Gold Dots to try as well...MMP has 2 different sabots avaliable as well as Harvester...I'm thinking about ordering the MMP green sabots but MidWay also has these prepacked by Hornady...Anyone know what sabots these will be???
My thinking is, since it is a Knight, which usually have larger bores than T/C and I believe in cleaning between shots then I don't need the Crush rib sabots???
Which would you order???

Hornady uses a lot of MMP sabots but im not sure about all of them. IMO the Harvester green CRs work with the 265gr or longer bullets better than with 240gr or less bullets. I keep both the smooth and CRs on hand but i dont use many .50x429 combos. FOR ME, my DISC based rifles have preferred the smooths over the CRs but im using some unusual bullets for testing.
I have a little custom 200gr spirepoint .429 VERY hardcast that shoots good with the smooth but i cant break 1 3/4" with the CRs. Granted, i am pushing them pretty hard for a light bullet.
Honestly i havent used many MMP 50x429 sabots so im not qualified to answer how well they compare to the Harvesters. My Knights have been ok with the few 300gr .429s and CrushRibs and i would like to try the 265gr Interlock from Hornady in the CR sabot. A longer bullet bearing surface in contact with the sabot can make a difference too.
My CVAs prefers the Harvester green smooth by far with most bullets but i havent tested that many.
When in doubt call Del at MMP. He is a great guy and very willing to answer questions and offer advice. He hasnt even bashed Harvester in my talks with him and has a very open mind and excellent way of expressing his opinions.
Ron (on this board) uses the .429s more than most people i know of on 2 forums and im sure his advice would be helpful also. The GoldDot 270 should be a good bullet IMO but you might want to get some 260gr Partitions from Wideners before they are gone for good.
www.wideners.com and they are about $22 per 50 for a true premium bullet that almost cant fail under any condition. They will hold 2/3rds of their weight under almost any situation.
