Was the Renegade ever offered as a kit gun?

I am looking for one on Gunbroker, etc. and want to know if this is a question I need to ask.

Yes it was. I have one. I believe the K in front of the serial # stands for kit.

Yep I put one together before I had a clue what I was doing it turned out really good. I decided after building it bp was just to much of a hassle so I traded it for a tool box for my truck, oh if I only knew then what I know now.

Even the Hawkins was a kit gun. I have a Renegade I put together back in the early 80's and it is a great rifle. And yes, the letter K is what to look for.

Thanks! Just wanted to be sure. Generally it seems that kit guns go for a lesser price.

The kit guns are not covered by TC's lifetime warranty.

Thompson Center has fixed my kit gun every time it needed it for free. I fell one winter hunting and cracked the stock (it was a heck of a fall). They replaced the stock. Also they adjusted the trigger on it for free. Other then that it has never needed any work.

It is a shame they no longer offer the guns in kits. Or do they? I think I paid $139.00 for mine back in the early 80's. Mine was the Renegade so it was cheaper. I should have bought ten of them kits. Could have made a lot of money by now just selling an unopened kit...

Those coulda/woulda/shoulda thoughts can drive you crazy. When I think of the number of dirt cheap 45-70 Rolling Blocks and Trapdoors that were laying around on gun show tables 30 years ago I get sick and have to administer several ounces of Scotch.
