If you've got an inline, you'll see that the barrel has a frosted look to it. And you'll see little lead flakes on the cleanig patches. Some Hoppe's and a brush will remove it....a lot of brushing. I've shot a lot of soft lead Great Plains bullets through mine. I've never noticed leading to speak of. I think the lube, slow rifling twist and lower velocities keep leading to minimum.

It will normally take a lot of shooting before a barrel gathers enough lead to notice. But the instructions and description are correct. Put some good gun solvent that removes lead on a patch. Push that through the barrel and inspect it. You will see small flakes of gray dust like stuff on it. That is leading.

I use Birchwood Casey solvent and a nylon brush every so often on my barrels. whether they need it or not. And have never had a lead build up.

When it starts to lead you will see a decrease in accuracy.
