Default JSG 3f Test

I wanted to work with JSG 3F a bit more as i havent had much experience with it and patched round balls. The last time i tried it i used 60 and 70gr loads with no accuracy so i put it up for a while.

Today i started out with 90gr JSG 3F, Barricade lubed .015 patch and homecast .490 round ball @ 50 yards off the CFX Lead Sled.

5 shot group

Recovered patches looked great * Working on pics*

Next i upped it to 100gr 3F JSG and the Accuracy was reasonable but when i went looking for patches, all i found was shredded up pieces.

Hopefully tomorrow i will get to work that 90gr 3F load out at 100 yards and see how she prints. After that, I will do some Chronograph testing to see what kind of numbers i am getting.

That's a really good group, especially if your patches were shredding. I usually get much worse than that if the patches aren't holding up.

I guess I will have to use some of my JSG 3f and see what I get. I am guessing you are compressing that ball real hard.

yep my range rod has a nice thick handle and i just pull down with my upper body weight. I did notice however with the Barricade lube, The fouling of the JSG did react to it differently, almost like a sticky feeling type. You'll see what i mean when i take some pictures of the patches. You can see the thick black fouling on them.

Those look real good Devil. Looks as though you weren't wiping between shots.

yeah, no wiping between shots. With APP they are a lot cleaner, yellowish residue on them but JSG is a new ball game.

The Barricade patch lube though really has improved the rifles accuracy. Never was able to recover patches like this before.

Did I miss what these were shot in, was it a rifle? Did the shooter actually know the rate of stated twist of barrel that was used in the lead sled?

The last AP I burned was in a barrel of 55 gal size, no rifling, open top with many air vent holes. 1/4 of a container in original container, It made a nice cloud of smoke.

I used mine for starting camp fires down by the lake if you put a little black with it to get it started it burns good. Had to do something with it you can not even give it away around here. Most of the guys like to shoot at the 250yd gongs and nobody could get it to group good at any of the longer ranges to erratic.

One thing is for sure IMO.

IF APP/JSG could get the fps spread down more then they would have a fine powder. I really do like how clean it is and for my short range fun shooting i enjoy it under the right conditions.

Lately its been so humid i wont even open the bottle and MY current local cost is close to T7 3FG pricing so......

I would like to test the powder they claim is an improved version but they can keep their square sticks.
