How bad is it down there my friend? Some things I have read make it sound like a whole way of life may be lost, at least for a few years. I sure hope things get better and soon.

It's bad. Real bad. Just about all of my regular marsh fishing areas on the East side of the Mississippi delta are now closed. The shrimp harvest is nill and prices are up 30% if you can find fresh shrimp. The largest oyster processor in the country just laid off all of it's workers and the oyster bars in town are starting to import oysters from the East and West coast, none of which have the rich flavor and character of Gulf Coast oysters. Some of the better blue crab areas are closed. That's affecting restaurants from Virginia to Maryland (did you know a large percentage of crab houses surrounding Chesapeake Bay actually serve blue crabs from the Gulf coast?) Then that idiot Obama went and shut down all of the wells in the Gulf which is killing the industry and really hurting thousands of people and businesses that support it. The only bright spot in the whole mess is that we have a Governor (Bobby Jindal) who's smart and effective. He's doing his best but seems to have to fight the Feds every step of the way.

Thumbs down

Semi you got the part about Obummer right, he is an idiot. But a crafty one. The idea of shutting down the wells and stopping production is only a small part of his overall plan to tank this great nation of ours. If this moron gets back in office for a second term, this nation is doomed.

God help us!!!

terrible ,very sad.we just stopped anadarko from taking water from our river here in pa.gas wells are booming everywhere.we had same thing happen this week here in clfd county. the shut off valve did not shut off.
it could have killed a lot of people if it caught fire. they had to stop all airplanes for 16 hrs.DID YOU KNOW THEY DID NOT NOTIFY THE D.E.P FOR 5 HRS.
they are polluting our streams and well water then saying THEY DID NOT DO IT.

flames are coming out of our sink water.when you try to do something they say,OH SPROUL YOU ARE AGAINST JOBS.
friends we cant trust these co.they will pollute as long as REGULATIONS are reduced on them..thank bush/cheney for that.
i am on committee to PROMOTE these gas drillers too but i dont hide and speak up for our water /woods etc.

they dont like me,not 1 bit.i dont care how much it cost all these co. MUST be heavily regulated.
every republican in my area has taken over 350,000 dollars from these co. for their campaigns.they are tearing up our roads and the repubs do everything to protect them.then our taxes go up to fix roads.

yes i am republican so i know how they think.we had coal co destroy our water, OH THEY SAID WE WILL NOT DESTROY OUR TROUT STREAMS.THEY DID and took us 100 years to get them back to be able to hold fish.

now they are gas drilling our water to death.greed is driving it bigtime.

as for jobs, WE ARE GETTING VERY FEW. they are bringing mexicans with them and not hiring locally
