Default New rule for Idaho?

It is being kicked around that Idaho will allow sabots. I don't know much more than that but if it happens it will be for the 2011 season. Ron

Good for them. It is dismaying that so many of our laws are made by people who have never done what they are making laws about, and can not know what they are doing or the effect of it.

Well if they do allow sabot rounds then we will be back where we started a couple years ago before the screw up buy the game commission. Next sencible thing they could do is repeal the minimum caliber restrictions. A 400 grain 410 caliber conical is certainly enough to take any Elk or Moose or Bear.

I have never hunted Idaho(I have fished there). You guys live in one beautiful place. I would not interject about your laws, because it is not my place.

I would like to see all states go back to "original", or "non-modern" MZ's for the MZ season. I remember when MZ seasons started opening up. Back then they were called "Primitive Seasons". And I liked that. Even PA caved in and dropped their FL only hunting.

I am not knocking the modern MZ's. Heck I have several, and use them often. I just think that we as hunters would benefit because I believe they could make the seasons more liberal as far as time length is concerned. I have more confidence in my Knight MZ's than I have in slug guns. And I am positive I can extend my effective hunting distance drastically with my Knight rifles.

I remember what a sharp increase there was in MZ hunting when alot of states allowed a scope rifle.

I guess the older I get, the more traditional I become. Oh well. Just an opinion. Tom.

I won't be switching . I know a good thing when I see it and I am set up for what I do now. I like not having to go to the store to pick up bullets. Ron

Well, to be honest I really don't find much difference. I believe that in some places there is one where I used to live in IL shots across the cornfield were passed because they were to far, I think the laser range finder actually makes more difference in effective hunting than the changes in the rifles. Here in the south the opportunity for long shots [at least where I live is very limited] I some times pick the 54 renegade to hunt with and find it just as effective as my inlines where the difference show most is on the longer targets on the rifle range.
