Default Optima got some new Glass today!

Put a new scope on the Optima today. My Bushnell scope had to thick of cross hairs and covered up a 2" orange dot at 100 yards so i wanted something with a finer reticle.

Konus Pro 3-10x44mm with Engraved 30-30 Reticle

Im happy as heck with the reticle now, its hair fine and i had no trouble with it covering up the bullseye.

What cracked me up was when i found out that the scope has a Recoil pad on the eye piece. Thank goodness because when i get hit on the forehead when shooting heavy loads, it may not hurt so much now.

Set on 3x

Got her sighted in! 3 low shots were 50 yards and after adjustment, the 3 by the bullseye were 100 yards. I was using my shooting sticks on all of these shots.

80gr BH209
360gr Lee Minie
Win W209 primers

I pulled that shot to the right.

There are so many scope manufacturers/importers these days that it's hard to keep up. Your's is the first Konus report I've seen. I know you'll be happy with that cushioned eyepiece Devil. From PlanetOptics?

Of course it's hard to get a good feel from the picture, but those crosshairs look extremely fine. Great for target work. Have you looked through it in low light conditions yet?

Hit by a scope? Should not happened, I would be checking trigger pull length and scope position or shooting form to find out why.

Went out today to shoot the Optima with the new glass. Had no luck at all! It was 90* in the shade and after a few shots, i decided to see how long it took for the barrel to cool down enough to where it was barely warm.... 23 minutes. Took my final shot and said screw this, i'll come back out this LATE evening when its somewhat cooler. The ways its been, i'll soon be setting up a flash light near my target and shoot around midnight when its in the low 70's .

You can barely see the fine cross hairs due to me resizing the picture, but i really liked the fine cross hairs today as it does not cover the 1" orange dot.

Optima in the shade cooling down,

I found that it really makes for a solid rest when i put my 4lb sock/bean bag under the rear of the stock.

Looks good. I haven't heard of them before but it seems they have a quality piece.
