Default crowned the Muzzle

Well she shot great without the crown, lets hope i didnt screw up some excellent accuracy.

I looked all over the shop and all i could find was an old valve out of a 1972 bmw. Good ol german engineering served me well today!

I simply puts Flitz polishing compound around the head of the valve and started lapping the muzzle. As time went on, i would stop to clean and inspect the progress. Everything turned out really good so i went and got some 220 and 400 grit sand paper and punched a small hole and then folded the left over sand paper onto the head of the value, held it tight and gently went about spinning the valve in the muzzle. Cleaned it out again and went at it with 400 grit sand paper. It now looks like chrome! Beautiful lands.grooves were left.

I followed up with both O and OO steelwool lubed with flitz and gave the bore 100 strokes with each grade of steel wool. Still a quite a bit of pitting in the bore but no where near as bad as the 6" of barrel i cut off. I will get some lapping compound later on and see about getting the bore even smoother. But for now, i am happy! Powerbelt loads up smoothly and with no more snagging on the sharp edges of the bore.

Before,

After,

Looks good! Hopefully it works out. If not, you could always buy a crowning tool.

As long as it is exactly square to the bore and don't have any nicks or tool marks it will do.
