Default Round Ball Prices

How much are you guys paying for round balls now?? I am working up a Gallery load for my 45 Colt rifle so I just bought 500-.457's for $5.50 a hundred. I saw some of the prices some places were charging, and I could not believe how high the prices have gone. Normally I cast all my own lead projectiles, but I figure these 500 will last the life of this rifle. So no need to buy a mold for the same price as what 500 round balls would cost. I thought lead prices came down?? Wow, you would not know it by looking at the round ball prices. So I was just curious what some of you guys were paying for your round balls?? Tom.

I bought 200 ball in .451 for my revolver a few weeks ago and paid $12.89 a hundred. I even asked the clerk at Gander Mountain if that was the right price. He assured me it was.

.490 and .530 balls here are up to $17.99 a 100. I have 30 pounds of lead left but think I will get 50 or a 100 pounds more just to be sure.

I have been hoarding up lead for a few year now. I have about 3,000# of WW, 800# of pure lead, 400# of linotype, and 100# of tin bars. So I think I finally have enough. but I will still pick up a bucket whenever I can get it. Tom.
