Default This is Sad.

I can't seem to find any Blackhorn209 powder around. I even have a local Cabelas. Cabelas website has the powder in stock but for some reason they can not ship it to the store. So I still have to pay shipping cost + hazmat. However this is not the sad part. It is cheeper for me to make the 144 mile trip to Miles City Montana and buy the powder semidirectly from Western Powders and its two dollars cheeper than Cabelas. So I might make alittle road trip this weekend. Going make it worth the trip though and probably buy 6 containers. Oh and I did call Western Powder, they will only make it in 10oz size. I was wanting to buy a keg(8lbs).

That is the trouble here.. if I want to shoot BlackHorn 209 I am stuck with them hazmat fees. Now its not so bad when I run out of black powder. I figured I could order it all, but the kicker is.. If I order black powder and BlackHorn 209 they charge me two hazmat fees because they can not ship the two powders together. Add some #11 caps, and you have a third hazmat fee. That is just insane. So I do like you, wait until I have a LARGE order and then make the drive.

Thats nuts! Anymore you have to do anything to save some money. Western Powder told me that usually I can get about 60 shots on a 10oz can at 100grains per shot. So with 6 cans thats roughly 360 shots plus I have two full cans left so thats 480. I did find one can at Shiptons for 19.00, but they arn't going to order any more. So I might buy that after work. I should have enough then for all summer and hunting season. If I could figure it out right I would just plan a trip every spring.

Whew...I feel for you. I think I got a good deal last fall. Cabela's had Blackhorn on sale for $24.99. I bought 6 containers then got another $30 off because I had a Cabela's spend $150 and get $30 off card. Ended up costing me $21.61 a container including tax. Thinking back I should have bought six more.

I was going to try Black Mag powder but then I would have to deal with the Haz Mat charges.

Isn't there a Cabelas in Billings? They don't have BH209 in Billings? The Cabelas in Rapid City has BH209 in stock for $24.99, if that helps at all. I wonder if Bob Wards has BH209 in stock.

The Billings store doesn't have any and they wont ship to the store. So I'm going to Miles City tomorrow and pick up some powder. Atleast I don't have to drive too long.

That's why I just use the convenience of the internet and make the HAZMAT fee worthwhile. I buy at least 6 cans when I order. I had 3 cans left when I left to come over here. It'll be interesting to see how the powder performs after sitting in my safe for 3 years.

Sucks I was going to use it last season. Figure I will pick some up before hand. Though I still have about a pound of 777 3f. Maybe have some fun with it and make a flash. LOL I could not belive how long it took to blow of a pound of it in my triumph.

Have you guys tried Powder Valley. I think they have BH209 in stock for $24 a bottle. I know you can combine primers, and caps in one box for one Haz. fee, I have done that before. I know they also handle Hodgdon powders. However I do not think they handle straight black powder. Tom.

Well I made my trip, picked up 6 containers. Found out the western powder dist. straight black powder, IMR, Hodgens, etc. They throw on a HUGE sale in aug thru a local sporting goods store. Alot of the powder I can get 4lbs to 8lb kegs (execpt blackhorn209). So I'll probably make a trip in Aug. and stock up on all my powder!
