Default Range Report TC Bone Collector

So in my last post I asked what loads you guys were using, so I had a base. Well the first time out I didn't do good cause I had a red dot scope. So long story short I bought a Nikon Omega scope. Took it out today to sight it in. I was using a 300 grain hornady XTP with the sabot supplied with them, 100 grains of Blackhorn209. The bullet was alittle snug, but not bad. At 25 yards I was shooting a .25 group. Well at 100 yards I was high but I brought it down. I had a 3 shot group right above the bullseye.
Target (Small).JPG I ran out of the supplied sabots and started using the TC Super Glide yellow sabots. The first shot went right with the others. The next ones as you can see went all over. The bullets that were taped over was when i was zeroing it in a 100yards. I've noticed the Super Glide sabots were easy down the barrel? Could the sabots do this? Are they not thick enough for my barrel? The supplied sabot is in the picture (i found an extra one) and then of course the super glide.Sabot (Small).JPG Also I have a picture of what the XTP expands at 100 yards. Impact (Small).JPG Any help would be greatlly appreciated, spring bear starts soon and I'm trying to get it sighted in for the hunt.

I had some experience with a Triumph for a short while and from what you explained the (Sabot) has a-lot to do with the grouping. TC Bores are tighter than most, but I also used the Super Glide and yellow Sabots and got the Trimuph to group 1" at 100yds, but I was using Pyrodox RS with 90gr loads. I'd first try lowering the Blackhorn down to say 85gr's and work your way up, sometimes 5gr's of Powder makes a Big Difference. Too tight a Sabot and too lose a Sabot can also affect grouping.
Now this is only from what I have heard.....TC Barrels are Not All the same from ML to ML (The same Model's) So you have to find what works good out of your ML and not go with what others with the same ML as your's use.

I read your post with much interest because I just ordered a Bone Collector last Friday. I prefer Barnes bullets in my Knight ML, so that is what I'm going to try first.

I'll post my results when I make it to the range with my new TC. Thanks again.

I also noticed the (yellow) Sabots supplied with the TC Superglides were (longer) than most other Sabots. The fit of the Sabot has everything to do with the accuracy of the ML. Find the right fitting sabot for your bullet and bore and you'll be back in the Bull. Good Luck!

Blackhorn 209 really likes a tight fitting sabot. The superglide is your problem. Try a Harvester Short black sabot or a MMP HPH 24 (which is probably what comes with the XTP you are shooting) One of these should do the trick. I think you're fine with 100 gr. of powder just find the sabot that your gun likes.

I also have the Triumph and got really good groups with the Superglides, but got even better groups with the Barnes EZ-Load (blue sabot, blue point) using 2 pellets of triple 7 magnum

I would suggest you try the barnes TEZ 250 or 290 gr bullets with the supplied sabots.90-110 gr for the 250.if you try the 290 gr out you might have to push it a bit more, say 100- 120 gr loose 777 or Bh209.A lot of the guys here on the left coast lol use the 250 gr TEZ's in the tight barreled T/C rifles.and achieve tack driving accuracy with 110 gr BH or 777 either one.you can always plink with another less expensive bullet of the same weight and use the TEZ for hunting.this bullet and sabot combo is definately worth trying.i also might ad that the terminal performance of this bullet is excellent according to everyone who uses them.i will see for myself this upcoming deer season.

calty - I've noticed that my MLs do not like the T/C yellow sabots either. They do not seem consistant to me. Some load easily while others are tight going down. All the yellow sabots I got with my 300 gr shockwaves I swapped out with Harvester green crush rib sabots and my groups went from all over like yours to right around 1 1/2" - 2" at 100 yds. Now that may not sound good to some guys but this is with a T/C Hawken percussion rifle with open sights. At 50 yds it will punch this (100 gr of Pyro P) load into cloverleafs all day long.
