Default Someone answer this

Can anyone tell me what the bore diameter is for a 32 cal muzzy?
I know the balls are .310 - .311. I'm suspecting the actual bore is right around .320.
If so, I am thinking about getting an 8mm bullet mould (.323) and try them out in it.

Well it should be .320 but of course there is no set measurement for any barrel. Ought Buck or 0 is supposed to be .32 diameter isn't it? Have any of that around? You could see if it would slide down the barrel. But would it slide back out is the question?

Hey Bronko, I've got a bunch of Hornady 32 caliber 90 grain lead semi-wad-cutters that I use for plinking loads in a .32 H&R Magnum revolver. They shoot great out of my pistol. I just measured three of them and each one measured .313.

They seem to be pretty soft. Maybe they would knurl up large enough for a reasonable fit in the bore, and might shoot OK with a base wad.

If you want, I can send you a dozen or so to play with.

EDIT: I wonder if a double or triple dipping in Lee's Liquid Alox would add the necessary diameter? Have you got some? I suspect any 8mm mold you find will produce a bullet too long for your Cherokee's twist (1:48?).

I wonder how those semi-wadcutters would work with a greased patch.

Semi - I would have to agree with Flintlock. The .313" diameter is not much more than the .311" RB. But I do have some .005" and .010" patches that would snug those SWCs up.
I'd appreciate trying them if you don't mind sending them out.
You still have my address? If not, pm me and I'll send it to you.
Thanks

If you want to try patching a bullet you need to use a cross patch like we do on the slug gun bench muzzleloaders. It works quite well if you figure the width right. Lee

That is a thought Lee. Just wondering how a paperpatch would work on these flat base bullets. There is nowhere to 'tuck the tail'.
Any suggestions?

OK dumb question. How would knurling increase bullet diameter? In this case up to about .010"
