Default bullet for 36 cal rifle

I'd like to get your opinion on an idea I've been toying around with. I've got an R.D Sullivan 36 cal (.360) squirrel rifle. It was custom built--but not for me. I bought it from an estate. I'm pretty sure Sullivan is in Illinois, and I've seen some of his other guns on Track of the Wolf. I think my gun is a Green Mountain barrel with 1:48 twist. What I'm trying to do is find a Maxi-type bullet for it. I think Buffalo Bullet made one at one time, but I can't find any current manufacturers of bullets or even molds. It does shoot .350 round ball fine (I use OOO buckshot). I was thinking of trying a bullet mold for a 9mm Makarov which casts to .365. Both LEE and Saeco have molds. LEE is 95gr and Saeco is 100gr. Typical roundball is about 65gr. My questions are : Does anyone have any info on R.D. Sullivan; Does anyone know a source for .36cal bullets--FOR RIFLES-- .36 cal pistols are actually .375 diam.--kinda like a 38 special is .357 diam; Can I cast those bullets and shoot them as cast or size them down--and if I do that--to what size in pure lead .361? .362? I respect the advice you guys give.

Keep an eye on EvilBay, do a search of "bullet Mold" , there are sometimes 36 Cal Maxi molds listed on it.

Here is a link to the Muzzleloading section of Cast Boolits web site, you will be able to get quality info there on Cast in your 36

Did you actually do a google search for a 36 cal Maxi, I got many hits and Track of the Wolf, sells them.

Google is a search engine, to help you find things.

The problem you will run into is the depth of the grooves...A roundball barrel has grooves that are .012-0.018 deep and are cut...Some production barrels have button rifling and the grooves are only .006 deep...That's why they are so fussy about their roundball loads...At any rate, the deeper grooves won't work with a mini type bullet, the gasses will escape between the bullet and groove bottom...You need shallow groove rifling for bullets...

Screwbolts-thanks I'll be spending alot more time on castboolits. I don't know how I missed that on TOW. I probably put "36 cal" in their search and fell over after seeing 17000 matches or whatever it was. I knew I wasn't crazy that T/C made those molds. Well, I am crazy, but T/C still made the molds.

Nchawkeye- Thanks, You're right I need to back up and slug and mike the barrel so I know what I've got before I just throw money at it. I guess I needed to hear someone else say it. I'll never show this message to the wife....EVER.
