Default 100 yards with 360gr Minie

Beautiful day! Its cold out but its the type of cold thats dry and doesnt feel like its stinging your face.

6 shots total with only 2 on paper. The other 3 were on a 2x4 that was aprox 14" low of the bulls eye

Last 2 shots with the Accura @ 100 yards and open sights.

Load:
100gr APP Super Stick
360 Lee Minie
Remington STS primers.

Bring it down about 1" And its perfect
1 1/4" 2 shot group.

Okay my girl friend wanted a trophy shot of me in the picture

Some pictures of the residue from the STS primers after 3 shots.

After 6 shots,

And I really was shooting Open Sights My ramrod is back at the shooting bench.

For open sights with minnie ball that is good shooting. I have both the .50 & .54 molds and have yet to find a rifle that shot them well. That kind of group with open sights is good. My results were all over the paper with the minnie. Also don't push them too hard. The skirt on them is thin and they will split. The original charge for the minnie was 60-70 grains.

60gr APP 2f shot really good too. I actually found that they shoot tight with a 100gr charge. I've been working up the courage to try 150 grain stick.

150 grains sticks.. that sounds like fun. Maybe you need a scope on that rifle too before you push that big conical that hard..

6 o clock hold. But it took a boat load of adjustment of the sights to get it up there. My first shot after adjustment went aprox 8" high of where the final 2 shots were. These sights dont have any adjustment marks.

You can see my sights where they are at now. The white paper and the space between it and the rear of the sight is how much i had to move it up.

MD, How do you like the truglo sights? I'm wanting to try a set of those as i like open sights and they look killer. Trying to find some locally so i can look them over. Gonna have to fan out a little farther...

I love the sights. Someone on another forum gave them to me and its simply amazing how clear the sights stay and especially how the orange target dot doesnt go blurry on you. That was only a 2" orange sticker and at 100 yards, it was super easy to see and to take aim at. Very thin front post on this sight set up.

They are worth every penny IMO.

The firing pin area and BP look pretty clean, is it the primer or powder that make's it so clean buring? I have'nt tried the Rem STS Primers, but I have tried the Rem Kleen Bore's. I dont think I'll go the APP route as Im pretty happy now with my current set up with the ACCURA, if it's not broke Im not gonna fix it.
