Default pillow ticking

Should pillow ticking be washed before being cut into strips and lubed for cut at muzzle use? Everything I've used before seemed pretty soft material but this stuff seems stiff.
Thanks

I wash the sizing out of the cloth and then line dry it. After it is dried it will tear easy.

Is this a Black Powder forum or a Laundry Mat forum? You sound like a bunch of house wives swapping laundry secrets.

I am just kidding guys. We all know you traditional guys are a little different.

I would think allot of the need to wash would be dependent on the condition when you removed it from the mattress or pillow. I wash mine.

Wash mine in very hot water and dry it in the drier, I want the sizing removed and to shrink it before I use it. The sizing don't taste good if you spit patch and keeps the ticking from taking some patch grease evenly [my experence] Lee
