Default bore buttons make your own?

anyone make there own? at the stores 10$ for 50 of them its just plain ridiculous. they cost more than real bullets. looking for 50 and 54-s. felt pads a good alternative?.

I used to buy the thick 100% wool construction felt that is used to insulate between and around windows and door jams. Then get some hollow hole punches. I like the 9/16th and use them in both 50 & 54 caliber.

Well I don't know much about the ones on the market never bought any.
I have a set of cutters the make wood plugs, I just stick them in the drill press turn it down to about 90 RPM and cut my own from the rolls of felt [intended for sealing doors and widows I think] I picked up dirt cheap when one of the local hard ware stores was going out of business about 30 years a go[i took all they had for a quarter a roll].

I use a 3/8" black Iron pipe. I sharpen it up and use a rubber hammer to cut them out for my 45. For my 50 I use a 1/2" pipe. The wads are slightly over size but they fit well. I get the wool felt from a clothing store. I got a nasty looking burnt orange strip of wool for 2 bucks. Ron
