Default Rust- I hate it.

So, after shooting a few weeks ago and getting things cleaned up on the Bone Collector I checked it today just to make sure all still looked good....as this is my first shots/cleaning of this particular gun. Much to my wondering eyes, I spotted a few rust spots inside the barrel part way down....on the twists.
So, I guess I learned something...this gun's inside must need to be really really really perfectly cleaned compared to my Genesis, which has never had rust. The outside of the Triumph Bone Collector has weathershield, but the inside of this blued barrel must not be as weather resistant. I haven't had this problem happen since like 6 years ago when I got some in the CVA wolf on my first year with it.Bummer.

This was one thing I disliked about the Triumph, yes it is a very good ML, but I'd have rather had a Stainless Steel Barrel on it than Weathershield. The protection should be where it's needed most, on the inside. Sorry to hear about your rust, I also hate rust. Gun's have only 2 enimies, Rust and Polititions.

Yeah, I hear ya, I thought after the wolf in blued, I would only get stainless. The Genesis has been great. The TC ....well, just have to be even more freakishly picky than usual. I wish they would do a ss barrel with weathershield...b/c obviously the ss is better overall being the inside on the TC seems to be missing out .....and yes I agree on your enemies statement.

mnprohunter, get some (if you dont already have it) JB's Bore Paste and try and stop the rust befor it get's worse. It might just get it all out as it's not too bad now.
Good Luck!

Yeah I got the rust out, barrel looks nice and clean again, coated it with tc's oil, I will check it again soon and make sure its ok, I'll hopefully be shooting next weekend, so we'll see how that works out again. Thanks for the input, Ill try some of the suggested products.

Take a look at either one of these two products... they both are expensive and they are synthetic oils... they have really been exceptional for me...

Montana X-treme Bore Conditioner
or
Slip 2000

You can just do an internet search and come up with the information....

I also use Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner (Oil) in My ML Barrels now. I dont know if this is the cause, but clean up is easier than ever, no Brushing, just 3-4 Windex Patches and it's clean.

I also use the Montana X-treme products. When I cleaned my .45 Green Mountain Barrel today, four windex patches and the fourth was clean. Two dry patches and then the bore treatment. I can not swear to it and will not, but I "suspect" because of the Bore Treatment, its why I do not have to swab as often and the bore cleans right up. Then again, it could be the stainless steel quality of the barrel.
