Default Bullet Advice

I was given a new Alpine Ridge (cabela's brand) BDC scope. It says it is calibrated for a 300grn bullet with 150 grains powder.

The scope will sit on a cva wolf. It's barrel is 2" shorter than most. Would using a lighter bullet say a 250 grn bullet with 150 grains powder compensate for the barrel length difference?

Open to any thoughts and advice.

None of them will match perfectly. If you intend to use the long range graduations all you can do is go to the range and find out where they really hit with the load you intend to use.

I would focus on finding an accurate load first. Getting an accurate load with 150gr powder is often not possible.

Drop down to 90-110grs of powder...Those 150gr loads, especially with a 300gr bullet tend to detach retinas...

Sabotloader and I have both mentioned this in a preveiuos Post using the Leupold Ultimate Slam ML Scope, and as said by Spaniel , you have to determine the BDC on your own. All MLers shoot different with the same load, there stats are just a starting point and it's up to you to see where exactly your bullets will hit at the marks on the BDC. Even if you use less powder and a lighter bullet the scope can still be used when you figure out where your load will hit.
