Question 4"or6" eye relief Banner scope?

Thinking of buying a Bushnell Banner 3x9x 40 scope and can get one with 4" eye relief for 6" eye relief. Which would be best for my accura? Would 6" hurt anything? Would it make a difference with the 6" if i got 4" or 5" away from it or closer? Just want to make sure i have enough eye relief. Appereciate any input. Which would you choose?

4" of eye relief should be plenty imho.the longer the eye relief the less field of view you will have...........karl

I have that model on one of my Traditions Lightning Bolts with the 4" relief and works great even when cranked up to 9 power. I have mine mounted on see thru rings as I have taken deer so close that the scope was full of fur and could not use, so I use the fiber optic sights as well.

I've bought both. The 6" was too much and went back to the store. The 4" is plenty and works great. Mine is the 1.5-4.5x32 Dusk to Dawn and it is a great little scope. The 6" was the 3-9 and I did not like the way it sighted in.

Might think about one thing, you are mounting this on a break-open gun... and from my experiance they mount farther ahead on the barrel than on conventional recievers. That might also make some difference in you relief selection. One of the reason the Nikon Omega is so successful is the 5" relief on break opens...

LOP also might make some difference in your choice...

You are right about the break open and is why i stated it was and accura. That is the only reason i mentioned the 6" relief. Was hopeing someone with a break open would reply. I had a small relief on my cheaper Wolf and had some trouble getting my eye close to get the right sight picture. I have a MK 85 and a rolling block but the scope mounts at a different distance. Also i have to clear the hammer like the Wolf and had see thru mounts from it. Tried the same scope on the accura and not sure i like it that way. Someone stated somewhere he took the rear sights off his and used medium height mounts. The break open design is nice but presents a new challenge to mounting for me. Any accura shooters have some help for me? I liked the break open design for ease of use and cleaning from the Wolf is why i chose to buy the Accura.

You can solve the problem, by using Weaver Style Extended Rings. These rings will allow you move the scope much farther to the rear.

I think Millet makes one of the better sets of extended rings. Might check this site out...

http://www.millettsights.com/control...gleloc_windage

Down near the bottom of the page on the right they show a set of extended rings... of course you would want to mount them going the other direction... to move the eye piece back towards the rear...

Might try to send a PM to underclocked - he has a scope on his and he knows his stuff.

i dont think the eye relief takef from field of veiw..usually the 6" is for big guns..that kick way hard, and 6" is a dream up from 4".. 4" shold be just fine fer a muzzy.

I have a Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn 3X9X40 on My ACCURA SS/BK with the 4" eye relief, it fits perfect. 6" is too much in My Opinion, less field of view. The break open design of the ACCURA has no effect on the scope. I also have a Leupold Ultimate Slam ML Scope on My SS/Camo ACCURA and it fit's great also. Both scopes are mounted with see-thru rings (CVA's Old Style See-Thru Universal Scope Mounts) and there's just enough clearance to **** back the Hammer. Plus the Bushnell is just as nice and clear as the much higher priced Leupold.
