Default Rain, Rain, And More Rain

Well guys, I sat in the rain with the .45 Sinful Renegade last Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, and Sunday morning with the intent of putting a doe in the freezer. Didn't happen. The rain started Friday afternoon and it was still raining when I left camp Sunday afternoon.

I saw a total of one spike buck over the course of about fifteen hours in the stand (at least I had the option of sitting in a box stand and not on an open ladder or climber). Normally I would see at least eight or ten does and two or three small bucks during a three-day hunt like that.

The rain has been unreal - over twenty inches so far in December (equal to about 17 feet of snow). We had 5.5" Sunday, 7" Monday and 2.5" so far today. And it's not finished yet, with another heavy rain event predicted to begin Wednesday night that could last into Friday.

Getting mighty hard to keep your powder dry.

Man, glad you had a box stand to sit in. I've set on deer stands (not covered) in downpours all day. Not fun. Even less fun when you don't see anything.

Hopefully your next trip will yeild better weather and results.

I was watching the weather channel and when they mentioned the rain showers over your area I actually thought of you (and kind of snickered). I kind of figured you would be sitting out in the woods. You're lucky a gator did not swim up to you and bite your leg off. They said you got six inches of rain. I was thinking how much snow that would be in my neck of the woods and shuddered. Although you were supposed to be real warm at least, in the 50's. We are hitting -10º F at night and just in the single digits during the day.
