Default Balistics info

Okay I am new to muzzle loading my wife bought me a Remington700ML when we first got married about 10 years ago and it has sat in my cabinet since. Since I had such a **** poor hunting season so far I decided I could take it out and sight it in .I cannot seem to find any info on my load so I am not sure where to sight it in @ 100 yards . to be zeroed at 200. I am shooting 2 50 grain pyrodox pellets with a 200 grain thompson shockwave bullet.

Try 5" high at 100yds and see what happens at 200.

Personally I might try and sight in for dead on at 130-150. That will lower the 5" at 100 yards to no more than about 3". Most shots are going to be less than 150 and I like to hold dead on out to there so there is less thinking about it with about a +/- 3 inches. You COULD hold on dead on and be 5" high and still be in the kill zone, but it doesn't give you much wiggle room.

Then for longer shots, you would have to have to practice and know how much hold over you need. My theory with ANY rifle is, if you can't put the crosshairs somewhere on his body, you are shooting too far.

It could be that your rifle doesn't shoot flat enough to have a 200yd zero. I don't really know how your bullet would shoot, because i have no first hand experience with the powder or the bullet. The chart below is based on a 2000fps muzzle velocity, but i don't really know if that is reasonable for your load.

Assuming that the chart is in the ball park, one can see that sighting in about 3 1/4" high at 100 yd results in being about 3 1/3" low at 200 yd. Trying for a 200yd zero may result in the bullet flying too high for hitting a critter around 100yd.
