Default Sooooooo Close today

Was out today during the PA rifle season with one of my 50 cal percussions. I had already taken a buck with the bow but had an anterless tag.
I was in the midst of some really heavy stuff. A couple acres of 1 - 1 1/2" saplings growing about a foot or two apart you all know the type). About 9:30 I caught some movement about 75 yds out. Bits and pieces here and there. I knew it was a deer working toward me. I kneeled down, ****ed the hammer and waited, and waited. As it was getting closer, something didn't look right. Was acting a lot like a buck does. Walking with its head low and the body language was spelling buck.
Well at about 35 yds HE must have got a whiff of me cause he picked his head up and was looking around. Sure enough - a nice 8 pointer. He put his head back down and contined past me at about 25 yds. It was definately his lucky day cause I had him dead to rights. That red fiber optic sight was resting solidly just behind his front shoulder every time he stopped.

It never fails... when you want a doe, every buck in the woods walks past you. When you want a buck you see nothing. That at least makes for a good day in the woods, even if you could not shoot. Good luck with the doe hunting.

That's always a thrill Bronko, even when you can't close the deal.

Speaking of closing the deal, I'll give you $100 for that Renegade's stock - you keep the barrel.

Oh, I know that Bronko. If I weren't already "Christmas Poor" I would be grabbing it. (not to mention my wife's birthday is Dec 4th. and our anniversary is Feb 4th.)

Well it still sounds like you had good day in the woods. I'm taking off tomorrow and heading to the cabin about noon to hunt the last weekend of rifle season. Thinking about taking my white this weekend.
