Might check this thread...

I have 3 of these guns and I really think they are great guns, mine are all stainless. The only thing is that they are old technology as compared to the new guns.

I have just completed a bolt conversion that makes it closer to the new technology in todays guns + plus it should allow shooting BH-209 with out a problem. I have the parts installed but I have yet to shoot the gun - hopefully this week sometime.

$100 for Rem 700 in good condition is a good price...

I have one as well and as sabotloader said, it's older technology, they are amazingly accurate. I've yet to find something mine will not shoot well. They're built like a rock as well and points just like my 700 in .280.

The weak link of the gun is the bolt. It gets dirty very easy. You need to take it apart everytime for cleaning. Get a bolt take down tool and it makes it a lot easier. Depending on the igintion, you might want to consider to upgrade the nipple to the Canadian version of the 209. It's a lot better nipple.

For $100, I'd jump on it-even if it's well used. My stepbrother had a misshap and forgot to clean his one year after the end of the season. When he went to use it the next year and realized it, the barrel had already started pitting. He cleaned it out, shot 5 rounds through it and were all touching at 50 yrds. Still shoots great to this day.
