how accurate is a TC encore with a center fire barrel on it. lets say up to 500 yards. or how does it compare to a bolt? thanks

My experience with the Encore and center fire barrels is a very sorry one. Bought several barrels and put quality scopes on them. It's a shame that a guy pays that much money for a gun and barrels only to find out that TC quality control totally stinks. That gun has a lot of side play in the barrels, some were much worse than others. Some of the barrels had serious headspace problems.

The hammer spring was too weak to be used with centerfire cartridges so i changed that and the lockup springs. Also changed to an oversized hinge pin. There was still side to side flop.

I have a Winchester model 37 "Steelbilt" shot gun that was made about 1950. That old gun has no side play in the barrel today. 60 years later with all their CNC machines TC still cannot get it right.

Save some money and buy a good quality bolt action rifle.

I think they guarantee under an inch at 100. Could possibly provide sub-MOA groups to 500yds (shooter=limiting factor). They're right up there with bolt rifles.

here is some great info . The Encore is a good gun but some need a little more work than others . My encore needed a 1 x hinge pin and stronger lock up bolt spring . it would not lock up solid and i had a ton of play between the barrel and receiver unless i SLAMMED it closed . I NOW get great groups all the time . Before if i slammed it closed i got great groups, but if i forgot my groups would open up .

here is the link !!

EDM Encore 6BR Varminter

here is what i get with my encore with the . 50 muzzy barrel .This is at 46 yards as i can only use a 1 x scope for hunting so its useless to try 100 groups with my scope . this was using two different bullets to see if the shot the same . This is a 8 shot group !!
