I am sure most of us have heard of the Solunar Tables... I really have never paid much attention to them because I felt they were aimed at fishermen... Well, field and stream has a good Solunar table site - so nowdays I check just for the heck of it....

enter your zip code then check the radio dial for deer and game animals...

I never used them until I moved to whitetail country in eastern NE for college. Now, they help me plan my hunting times. The full moons are tough days, the deer are moving after shooting light. No moon? Good, seems like they will move earlier and give me a chance. Still, I haven't hunted by them enough to confirm their usefullness, but I'm still gonna use them to figure times I should be in the blind anyways .

My GPS will give you dusk, dawn, and then the best hunting times according to the date and the moon. I read them because it is interesting. Strange enough, most of the game shot is during their peak times.

I believe they're valid to some extent, but local weather conditions have an impact. For example, I don't care what the tables say, I'm going to be on my stand when the rain stops, or right after a front pushes through. What the heck, I'm going to be on my stand most any time I get the chance anyway regardless of tables, rain, fronts, etc.

(4) If you eat right and exercise, don't smoke or drink, you're going to die anyway.

I agree with this 100%, I do the exact same thing. The only thing I do see right most of the time is when there is a full moon, game movement especially deer the next day is non existant.

My sentiments exactly. These days I don't have the time to get to the woods near as much as I'd like. I'll go regardless of the weather. But they are fun to look at. My GPS also has them and I look at them when I'm on teh stand but never to plan my hunt.

I agree with Semisane...But, I go whenever wife, daughters, the mother in law and work will let me...Sometimes I bring my clothes to work and slip out during the day, especially during the rut...
