Default First buck with a MZ.

Shot a few does but finally got my first buck yesterday morning. Nice little 5 point shot at 7:25 AM at a ranged distance of 140 yards. Using my TC Triumph with a Bushnell 2-7X36mm shooting 110 gr. of 777 3F with a 200 gr. Shockwave and Harvester CR sabot. Figured for a little drop as I was zeroed at 100 yds. held about 1" high anthat is where it hit. Double lung, ran 80-100 yards before expiring. I have pics just need to get them onto the computer.

Hope everyone elses season is going well.

A pic as promised! Just finished processing him other than grinding the burger. Very little fat on him, in full rut and it showed!

cayugad,

I have learned with the 200gr. Shockwave that they are great bullets as long as you place your shots appropriately. I take vital shots only and avoid the shoulder at all cost. As long as the 200 does not smash into large shoulder bones all is good and the animal expires in short order. Now I am not saying that you could hit them in the shoulder and end up loosing the animal as every situation is different, I would just not recommend it if possible. This is the 3rd Whitetail I have taken with this gun and load, 2 lung shots and one spine shot, and all resulted in venison in the freezer.

Good luck to all this season!
