shooting sighting rest.

I want to get a rest for shootin at the range and sighting both my muzzleloader and my 10/22 in. I am thinking the caldwell leadsled. Any thoughts on it. Is there a better rest out there for sighting in or is the leadsled the top of the list. Ofcoarse i do not need the recoil reducer for the ruger but it would be nice for the 125 grain shot from the triump

Unless you're really recoil sensitive Bigtim, I see no need for anything more than shooting bags like these http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...793&id=0061228
and they're a lot easier to store and transport than something like a lead sled.

I'm not a big fan of lead sleds but a lot of people like them.

Here's what I use for the front and then a tube sock filled with rice for a back rest.

I wouldn't get a Lead-Sled as I have heard of issues with it absorbing so much recoil that it cracks rifle stocks. I prefer to just use a Caldwell Rock with no rest in the back. That's how I'm gonna shoot when I'm taking game, so that's how I sight in.

There are many things that make a good rest and will save you money from buying one unless you really want one. A couple of pillows, a blanket, sand bags, ect. Check any shooting supply store and check the reviews and find one you like.
Remember you wont have this rest to rely on for Hunting, it's good for sighting in but you will have to do it on your own when it comes down to holding on your game for yourself. If you need a rest when your Hunting and a tree is near by (if possible) brace on it. Or get yourself one of the many (shooting Sticks) that attach to your Gun for a good solid rest.
As advised by others on the Forum, get away from the 125gr's and lesson your load and this will make you more accurate. But if your problem is just you cant hold er still when you shoot then that's something your gonna have to work on for yourself, it's called (Target Panic) and sometimes never goes away unless you practice perfect shooting skills.

I move i can sit on a pumkin or a bottle and pop it everytime but when it comes to looking at the target i start moving. not sure if i just get nervous or think about it to much. I have a tripod i set up for shooting but still move. I think if i can get it sighted where i know it is dead on i will be ok. Last group was dead on alittle high. but that was three out of 10 shots.

I bought a lead sled on EBay for around $70 and so far have no problems with it. Like the other guys said it is a heavy SOB to lug around but being recoil shy it sure helps getting zeroed. Drop thatload back to 100grs. and you will be amazed at the difference in recoil and group size.

I really like my Lead Sled. Haven't had any issues with it. I just don't use any lead on it. Makes a really steady rest and still absorbes some of the recoil. Great for working up new loads or sighting in for the season.

The recoil on the muzzy is not a real issue. I want to get a nice bolt action rifle this spring something in a 30.06, 308, 7mm, not sure yet but i know it will kick so figured get the leadsled and be done with it.

I've had a lead sled for 4 years. Lately finding I am far more accurate off from some type of bags then I am with the sled. It's pretty much retired for siting in purposes.

I would try dropping the 125 gr charge as well. I was using 110, but dropped to 100 this weekend and was amazed at the difference. 3 shot 1 1/2" 150 yd group - two touching. Triumph, 100gr BH, Nosler 250 w/short black sabot, ccci primers.
