Default Trajectory

Does anyone have an idea of how low I will
shoot @ 100yds if I am 1.5 inches high @ 50yrds
and dead on @ 70yrds?

My load is a 240 gr. xtp mag in front of
90grains of 777 loose.

Gun is a NEF Huntsman.

Good God that thing drops like a good curve ball.

How many times did you shoot it to establish those zero's? I shoot the exact same bullet... and I shoot 80 grains of blackhorn... and I'm 1.75" high at 50, dead on at 100, 3" low at 150.

I shot 90gr of ffg 777 just before switching to BH209... and my trajectory was very very similar to what it is with the BH209.

Anyway... IF you believe Hornady and go with a .160 BC for that bullet... and if you assume a 1600 fps muzzle velocity (prob closer to 1700), then the short range charts say that if you are 1.5" high at 50... you should actually be about dead nuts on at 100 yards... I'll put it like this... I'd hold dead on for a shot at 100 with what you got.

At those close ranges the geometry of your sight setup could change things alot. There is no substitute for shooting and finding out, 100yd ranges are not hard to find...

Little gump, Its not possible to be 1.5" high and dead on at 70 yards with that load if you are pointing the same at both ranges. Are you using a scope or the sidekicks open sights? Not knowing, I would guess the open sights. The further out a target gets ... the more difficult it is to point at it in the same place. You may be aiming lower when the target is at 70 yards. This wouldn't be uncommon with open sights. There can be tendency to lower the sights for a better view of the target. You should be about 1 1/2 " high at 70. So you maybe point 1.5" lower when the target is more distant. Even so, the drop at 100 when you are dead on at 70 should be less than 2".

Maybe it was just my shooting today.
I did have tight groups, but I only shot
1 three shot group at each range.

You apparently don't live in Carolina's, unless you want to join private gun club you have to waste half a day just driving to the only open to public range out there. 2 hours driving for me, it sucks.
