Default Dad's new Omega!

My dad just called a bit ago to tell me he just picked up his new TC Omega. He is planning on shooting TC 250 gr. Shockwaves w/ super glide sabots. Anyone who has shot these, can you give me an idea of what charge you had the best results with? Powder type and amount would be great. He is really excited about the new rifle and hopes to have it set up by the weekend.

great gun. I use 2 50 gr. trip 7 pellets (100 gr. total) with a regular 250 shockwave with very good results. Good luck

I had a buddy that got one of these the and was shooting it the other day trying to sight it in. It's a Omega Z5. He is shooting 2 50 grain Pyrodex pellets with a 250 grain shockwave. It wouldn't group for much of anything. Shots were all over. Finally he got it to start hitting decently close to the same spot and once he got it within a couple inches of the bullseye he left it. They were saying they had never seen a gun take that many shots to sight in. I have however but I will say I don't know if it was them or not but it wasn't shooting good at all.

On the other hand his brother also got one that seemed to shoot pretty well.

Have his start with 100 grains. If that groups well, have him kick it up to 110 grains and see what happens. If that groups well, then kick it to 120 grains if he feels he really needs that powerful of a charge. Again check the groups. Then shoot the amount that gives you the tightest group.

Try the regular 250gr sabots first, only use the superglides if the regulars are really hard to pound down. I have yet to hear of a gun where the regular sabots load fine, yet is accurate with superglides. You want a tight sabot just not too tight.

I've used the Shockwaves with the superglide sabots and 110gr of 777 2F powder and Win 209 primers with really good results in my Omega.

I shoot 130gr Pyrodex RS with the 250gr shockwave. 120gr shoots just as good.
