Default shipping rules for muzzle loaders?

Can a person ship a muzzle loader to someone without all the paperwork of reg guns. You can buy them through the catalogs through the mail. Or would it be better to take it apart and ship as gun parts?

Check the laws for where the ML is being shipped. Most States a ML can be shipped through UPS with no problems. Certain Big Cities you cant. Taking it apart does'nt matter, it can be put back togeather again just as easy.

As mentioned some states have restrictions. Illinois, New Jersey, California just to mention a few. Most states do not. The regulations for shipping "firearms" is set by federal rules. They can only be shipped from ffl license holders to another license holder one exception being when shipping from the owner to a repair facility which can be done. The shipping of muzzleloaders (not "firearms") is without federal control and only controled by each state. Disassembly will not excuse any of the rules. As long as the muzzleloader is a muzzleloader only and now one of the switch barrel guns that can accept shotgun barrels or rifle barrels which makes them "firearms", you can ship UPS or USPS. Just be very specific when shipping that it is a muzzleloader not a "firearm".
