What kind of muzzle loader? If you told us I'm sure we could help you more. Generally take the breach plug out.

Looking at the manual for your rifle.

There is a barrel release hex head bolt on the bottom of the rifle. So take the ramrod out first. Then take that hex head bolt out. It is located just ahead of the trigger guard. Once that is done, you can lift the barrel and trigger assembly out of the stock.

You can take the trigger assembly off also if you want to clean that. Remove the receiver cap off the back end of the barrel. Then remove the main spring and main spring guide out. Now pull the bolt all the way back as far as you can and pull the bolt handle out. Hold your trigger back and push the bolt out the back of the rifle.

Now as you look into the back of the rifle you can see the nipple and the breech plug. With your breech plug tool take the nipple out, and then the breech plug. You now can look through your rifle barrel. You can pour anything you want through it, push patches through it, clean the breech plug threads, check the barrel, oil it and clean the rifle according to the manual.

If you have not done so, go to the Traditions Firearms Co web site and down load the manual and Schematics for your rifle. http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/es...8%20Manual.pdf

read your manual and it will walk the cleaning process through for you.

Hummm...can you take the striker apart? This should give you access to get a wrench in and pull the nipple/breech plug out.
