I know most of you guys Love to ML Hunt, but are your Seasons short? Can you use a ML During your Regular Big Game Gun Season? Are you restricted to just 1 animal during your ML season? Are scopes legal? any prjectile?
Here In N.Y where I Hunt we can use a Scope and any bullet as long as the Bore is .44 inches. We can start to ML Hunt during our Regular Big Game Season, Shot-Gun, Rifle, Hand Gun (Buck's & Doe's & Bear) We get a Regular Season Buck Tag and can get up to 2 (Doe Tags) also a (Bow-ML Buck Tag) and a (Bow-ML Either Sex Tag). The Bow and ML Tags can only be used for those seasons. So we can Hunt with a ML during our regular Big Game Season, then following that we get a Bow-ML Season for 9 more days. Say You dont fill any of your tags for the Regular Season or Bow Season, then you can use all your tags for ML season. So you could take 2 Bucks and up to 3 Does during our late ML Season with those tags.
Also we can give our Doe Tags to another Hunter or get them from another Hunter, up to 2. So you could get up to 5 Doe Tags and 2 Buck Tags.
So we can ML Hunt from Nov 21st to Dec 23'd, all through our Regular Big Game Season and through our Late ML Season.

We can use a muzzleloader during modern season. Even scoped. But once muzzleloader season hits, we are limited to non magnification scopes only, Red Dots, or regular sights.

We can use a Scope during our ML only season, N.Y.'s way of thinking is, with a scope there's less of a chance for wounded animals, it works for me. Up untill a few years ago we were limited to No Scopes and Patch & Round Ball. With our new rules it brought more people into ML Hunting and more $ for N.Y.S.

I hunt in Ohio- they allow scopes, inlines, smokeless, pretty much anything during ML season as long as it is a front-stuffer. ML season is only like 4 days long, which is not the greatest. You can use ML during "gun" season, but "gun" season season is shotgun only and lasts 1 week. The last couple years they've had a "bonus" weekend of gun season as well.
All told, we get about 13 days of ML season if we want. Could be better, but I guess it's okay. They really should liberalize the seasons even more, what with the deer overpopulation problem.

Nebraska: inlines and scopes allowed. Season runs the whole month of december. They are allowed for use during the 9-day rut rifle season as well. 40cal or larger for deer I believe, and 50 or larger for elk.

hunting in NY sounds a little bit complex in Tenn, We have three deffrent units A,B,L, rules are different in every state. But in Tenn, we start on the 7th of nov thru the 20th of nov. for muzzle loader season. Then modern rifle starts the 21 of nov thru the 6th of dec. then back to archery only 7th thru 18th of dec. and this is where the shootin starts!!!! The 19th of dec thru Jan the 10th. limts are hard to keep up with, But in the L unit sections totals three bucks total ( only 1 per day ) but three doe's per day for all wepons Archery, muzzleloader, and gun, THAT IS 315 doe's AND 3 BUCK'S per hunter, per season only 105 day's to hunt. There are not to many rules on muzzle loaders, 44 and up, sabo ok , lead ok, scope ok, inline ok, just about any thing . there just not enough hunters to keep the herd in check. sad but true annual sportsman licence fee is $ 136.00 non resident 7 day all game is $175.00 http://www.state.tn.us/twra/index.html
In my area of Louisiana, the "Primitive Firearms" season (which includes certain single shot cartridge rifles) consists of one week in mid-November and one week at the end of January. Scopes, in-lines and smokeless powder are all legal. All firearms and bows and cross bows are legal for the entire period in between the Primitive seasons. Harvest limit is one doe plus one buck per day, with a total limit of three does and three bucks for the year.

(3) There's no need to act stupid, even if you're very good at it. (4) If you eat right and exercise, don't smoke or drink, you're going to die anyway.
Indiana - 45cal with .357 bullet and larger legal in rifle, 50cal with 12in barrel minimum in pistol. I believe smokeless is legal, as are scopes. MLs are legal in regular season. Our ML season is in December after general season, I cannot tell you how long it is because I've only lived here 3 years and hunted only one morning of ML season -- I ML hunt primarily in general season.
1 buck per year all seasons combined, which has given us excellent buck quality. I see plenty of really nice 8-10 pointers. A few monsters around but they are darn smart. Doe permits are managed by county, if you had permission on land in each county I imagine you could shoot a couple hundred deer. Around Indianapolis there are even more doe tags available.
Michigan was a bit more restrictive in that smokeless was not allowed. 45cal or larger with .357 or larger bullet in a rifle, .44 or larger in a pistol. So I own a cap and ball revolver that was a legal backup weapon in MI but is not useless to me in IN. Season was also in December but they've added some additional antlerless seasons since I left that I have not kept up with. Crappy 2-buck rule with 1 being 4 or larger on a side, meaning everyone drops the first legal buck they see then waits for "Mr. Big". So Mr. Big dies as a forkhorn and there aren't many Mr. Bigs around.
