Default week of hunting

Well just finished the Arkansas first ml season. Saw lots of small bucks and does during the season, but nothing I wanted to shoot at. Finally on wed afternoon I saw a nice 8 or 9 point couldnt tell. He gave me a shot at 45 yards, he was in thick brush, but I had a nice 12 inch hole to shoot through. I could see his right shoulder and the first half of his lungs. Everything felt good when I pulled the trigger and when the smoke cleared he was gone. Couldnt find a drop of blood or any hair where he was standing. Couldnt find any sign in the dry creek bottom either. The next morning I searched the hill side he ran onto and the creek bottom NOTHING. I shot my rifle the next day and it was 6 inches high at 100 yards. I dont know what the heck happened cause it was on 3 weeks ago. Oh well at least I didnt wound him. I saw lots of deer as high as 18 on one afternoon. A week of hunting beats a week at work anytime for me.

Well it is good that you did not wound a deer, but strange that the rifle would have changed that much. Although I shot one of my rifles last week and it was two inches low. No reason why.

Good luck

Darn shame Greg. At least you saw deer and had a shot at a keeper.

Like women, guns don't give you reasons or warnings - they just seem to change.

Greg, if you are back in that area soon ... watch for gatherings of crows. Sorry you didn't get him.
