Default question on bullets and sabots

im gettin me a new T/C Triumph tomorrow and im wondering about bullets...i shoot a lot and buying some of the "actual" muzzelloader bullets gets pretty pricy....my nephew does some casting and it helps and they are pretty decent bullets but with looking around here i see alot of guys saying they use handgun bullets...hornadays,speer,nosler and so on...which would help a bunch....now i also see after readng a lot about the triumph that it takes a bit of playin around with powder, bullets and sabots as well....i have seen a lot of posts about diffrent kinds of sabots....where are you getting them? we have a few places here locally where we can get them but not many...any ideas or websites where i could get a bit of a selection to do some shooting to see what works best and so on....anyone give me some websites i can get some of these?

Midsouthshooters Supply, Midway USA, Graff & Sons, Natchez, that should get you started!

I would start with some Hornady XTP's or the Hornady FTX's in either the .430 or .452 size bullets. If you want to go with the .452 bullets. the Harvester Short black sabot will be hard to beat. If you want to try the .430 bullets, I have had some really good groups with the .430/265 gr. Hornady FTX and a Harvester green sabot. You should be able to get all of this from MidSouth Shooters Supply. I have also heard a lot of great things about the Speer gold dots. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these bullets and you can buy them all in bulk. Hope this helps. Keep asking questions untill you get it figured out. There are a lot of great guys on hear with a lot of knowledge that are more than willing to help.

Regarding the sabots, you can order them directly online from MMP or Harvestor. I don't have the URL handy but a simple search will get it for you.

Bullets, Midsouth or Natchez. I'm mad at MidwayUSA right now so don't go there

would any of you all have a bit of extras as far as bullets and sabots i could buy from you all do you? that would give me a variety to try out and see what i can get the best with that would help a lot not haveing to buy it all and not use half of it when i find the combo that works best

I picked one up this summer, the weather guard version and put a Leupold 3X9 Ultimate Slam on it with the DOTS system.. I can tell you that the 250 SHOCKWAVES are the real deal, the accuracy is outstanding, a little hard to load, but they fly beautiful.. I've been using 3 50 grain 777's and the Federal fusions primers and have been amazed at how accurate it is.. it will shoot under 2 inch groups all day long at 100 yards and it doesn't matter how dirty the barrel gets either.. and with that primer the CRUD doesn't seem to built up either, even after 15 shots, the barrel is still clean, I'm sure it the low spark in the primer thats helping with that old problem.. the DOTS in the scope are dead on at 200 and 250 and I mean dead on, whoever enginered the gaps did some range work without question.. hopefully I'll find out tomorrow or saturday how they perform on deer... I'd start with the SHOCKWAVES...tripple 777's and the new fusion primers for sure...again..
