The last box of Speer .410 / 210 grain Gold Dots I bought costs $23.17 for a box of one hundred.
This one was recovered from the damp sandy loam behind my 75 yard target.
It was shot at a lowly 1550 fps, so impact velocity was somewhere around 1300 fps.
Looks pretty darn good, huh?
I can load them in the Renegade's .45 caliber GM barrel with both Crush Rib and regular E-Z Load Harvester 45/40 sabots, and in my Omega X7 with the 50/40 Crush Ribs.
So far, I've gotten 50-yard groups as small as one inch with both guns, but the 100 yard groups open up to three or four inches.
I haven't played around with different powders or charges yet, but you can bet I'll be doing a lot of experimenting now that "shooting weather" had arrived in the South.
The trajectory potential looks promising. This is what it should look like at 1800 fps, which is easily achievable with about any powder.
So, if you can get something like this to shoot well, why pay a buck a bullet?

what did you shoot it out of? i see rifling on it so, pistol?
Bingo Devil! Yeah, that one was out of my .41 Mag Blackhawk. That's why the velocity was only 1550 fps. But believe me, they sure work out of that pistol. It wears a 2X Leupold scope and will hold 6" 100 yard groups with a rest.

Now thats a caliber you dont see every day! are they made for a .44cal magnum? my dad has a ruger redhawk .44 mag. We still have to get that sighted in for 100 yards. I believe it has a 9x bushnell scope on it.
If I buy another Blackhawk then that's the caliber I want...
I recommend it highly NCHawkeye. I got real lucky and picked up my Bisley grip model in a pawn shop about ten years ago at a rock bottom price. The shopkeeper said he couldn't sell it because people didn't like the "funky grips".

btw...I can beat the price... Free dental lead and roll my own for my flinters...
Yep, do that myself for my .54 GP flinter, .54 GM barrel Renegade, and .58 Zouave. I presently have over 80 lbs. of pure roof jack lead from a roofer friend. Those are all fun and cheap shooting guns for sure.

Yep Devil. Speer makes the .429 Gold Dot in a number of weights - 200, 210, 240 and 270 grains.

mountaindevil,
I loaded the .429 /.44 /210 grain for my Redhawk but the accuracy was not too good. I shot a few out of my Omega with green crushed rib sabots and they looked promising in front of 90 grains RS.
