Default Coating action to make cleanup easier?

I got to do a fair amount of shooting this summer with my Knight. As a result, I've gotten pretty efficient at cleaning it. However, cleaning the powder/primer residue out of the action is still a pain. I'm wondering if there is something I could apply to the action beforehand that would make cleanup easier. I harken back to the old camping trick of spreading soap on the outside of your cooking pots to be able to wipe off the campfire soot and residue. Anybody ever come across something like that?

That's an interesting idea Wingbone. What to use that wouldn't be sticky and/or gum up the action? Teflon spray, Silicone spray, gun oil, WD-40 are all already used on actions and I haven't heard that any of those make clean-up particularly easy. Maybe try some liquid soap thinned with alcohol????

Some have advocated a wax by Flitz as an action coating. I've not tried it but it sounds like it would work well.

If you find anything that works, let me know. Both my ml's are Knights and I think I spend about twice as long cleaning the action areas as I do the rest of the gun. Next time out I'm going to try some teflon tape and see if that helps.

wINGBONE; I have found on my Knight disc elite that Remoil w/teflon cuts the fowling (primer and blowback) in the action better than anything else. Try a lite coat when at the range. Keep everything dry when hunting!!

Pressure spray can of Gun Scrubber will clean quite well.
I suspect that the molycoat idea would work if you try it let us know how well.

Careful with the Gun Scrubber. I was assembling my DISC Elite and held the stock with a rag that still had a wet spot from using Gun Scrubber and it removed some of the textured finish from the composite stock.

Now how do I fix that?
