A.Pour powder into the measurer to the correct amount
then scrape off the top.
B.Pour powder into the measurer to the correct amount
tap the measurer to settle the powder so that you can
add more the scrape off the top.
C.Some other way.
I am looking for the most consistent way of measuring
powder to have the best groups possible. I am using
the method described in (B) with descent groups at 50
yards,3/4 inch, havent shot for groups at 100 yards yet.
I'm a "B" kind of guy. Overfill the measure slightly, give the measure 1 good thump with my index finger, slice off the extra and load 'er up. This is when using 777 and Pyro. If I was using a really coarse (thick) grained powder like American Pioneer (Shockey's Gold) I'd give it 2 thumps to settle it in.

It all depends on the kind of measure I use. If it is a funnel spout time, I over fill it, flip the funnel and cut the charge. If its an open measure, I fill it, tap it level and then pour.
I would stay with the method your doing. With those kind of groups at 50 yards, your doing something right.

same every time. I use TC uview, fill , tap once, top and pour

Well, i use a Redding model #3-BR powder measure to fill a pile of Lane's Tubes with BH 209. It is quite quick, and i am sure it is accurate, as i used to weigh thrown charges of smokeless powder when i was reloading. In those days the scale say the charges were very very accurate. The BH 209 meters nicely too. Lane's Tubes have ml marks on them and one can see that all the tubes are charged identically as near as one can tell. My load is 7ml whatever that is; right around 105g by volume of BH209.
I use these pre-charged tubes to load my rifle at the range or in the field, and it is slick, easy, and accurate.
Thanks for the info guys, I was just curious how everyone else
was doing it compared to me. I strive for acurracy, and if there
is a better way,I want to know.
