1:48 is not really ideal for sabots, but you may find acceptable accuracy with a given bullet/sabot/powder charge combination. Just have to try it and see.

trigger8mm

I have shot sabots for years from my 1/48, but I have found or thought i had found that I could shoot .452 projectiles more consistenly accurate than I did 44 cal.

I also found that I could shoot the .452/300 grain with 80 grains of T7 very accurately from my TC Renegade. That also might be why I did not have a lot of success with the 44 cal bullets as I might have been blowing the sabots with that much T7.

With the advant of the new polymere sabots - shooting a 44 might work real well.

Both mine also have a 1-38 twist, I think all Thunderhawks did.
Mine shot PRB with 90 gr Pyrodex P
It shot the 50/40 180 gr 40 caiber Gold Dot and the 230gr 45 caliber bullets close to a minute of angle, and would group the 250 XTP with in 2 inches at a 100yds. I think it is a better all around twist than the 1-28. Lee
