Default Been awhile!

Been awhile since I've been here. Haven't been shooting sice last dec. I have been reading (lurking) occasinally. I sorta kinda been looking for a TC Seneca or Cherokee. Gun broker and other sites want $400-$600 for them.
Well this a.m. I was out at my local Gun & Tacle store looking for some plastic baits for fishing. Well lo and behold they had a TC "Hawken" .45 on the used rack. Something wasn't right about it. The nose piece looked wrong for a hawken, bbl measured 13/16s. It was a Seneca .45. Ran a bore lite down the pipe, clean sharp rifling. A little tarnish on the brass, a little "speckling" (rust) on the outside of the bbl. I think it will clean up pretty well w/a little elbow grease and good gun oil!! Not bad for what I gave for it. A lot less than the auction sites. Anyone got one of these and what is the reccomended loads. I was thinking about 40-50 grs 3f and a prb and go from there!! Them squirrels better look out this fall!!

They are a nice gun. I picked a used one up about 25 years ago at a gun shop. They wanted too much for it, bought a new 50 cal Renegade for less. Never shot one, but I suspect it will shoot 45 cal maxiballs well too.

I use a .440 ball and 55 gr of P. It really does well out to about 60 yds after that the wind will bother it if its blowing much. Lee
