Default PRB

I can not find any material (pillow ticking) or like at all. Walmart here doesnt have a fabric section and there is nothing that mics to .018 in the one and only fabric store. I have been using cleaning patches. I pour the powder, place the wad, then seat my RB on the cleaning patch that has been lubed w/moose milk. Some of the patches are ok after firing and some arent. Is it ok for me to use the cleaning patches? They are 100% cotton. I also shoot saboted cast bullets as well. They work ok but I want to shoot PRBs out of my Hawken. I also dont want to ruin my Hawken so, am I ok with the cleaning patches?

Have you got a JoAnne's fabric shop around??? I've heard some of the guys mention that as a good source for cotton patching material...I believe they call it cotton drill cloth...I believe you could also order bulk online from Dixie, Track of the Wolf and others...

I do not know why 100% cotton patches would not work. That is what I buy from Track of the Wolf only they are pre-treated. If they fit tight enough, actually I should if they fit correctly, they should do just fine...

But, I am an real novice at shooting PRB's...

I too am a real novice when it comes to PRBs.The patches seem to be tight enough. They go down harder than some sabots and easier than others. They mic @ .018 and I am shooting .490 RBs. Accuracy isnt really a problem, I am only shooting off hand now, no more bench resting. They dont really burn upso.......I will get a small amout of pillow ticking or Cotton Drill Cloth when I can and see if that changes anything. But for now.....I will still use the cleaning patches.

Played with that once, could not find any that were strong enough to shoot consistant, usually blow about one of three. Lee
