Default ML Hunt

Since this is my first time applying for a ML hunt, I was harshly introduced to reality. I live in CA and the closest zone for me toapply for is about 1 1/2 to 2 hoursaway from my house. Last year over 1000 hunters applied for this zone and only 20, yes 20 tags were issued. There is a point accumulation system in CA and all the hunters with the highest points are issued their tags first. Last year the first 18 out of 20 tags went to hunters in this situation. Ony teo were issued to the rest of the 1000 hunters. 74% chance you get your deer but it looks like I will have to wait several years before I get to hunt it. Oh well. I am still going to use my ML depending on the arear I hunt. Open Range, 30.06.....woodsy areas, T/C Omega or my Hawken. You accumulate points if you are denied your draw selection. Looks like I will be getting points this year. Just needed to vent.

A lot of places have the same hunting situation as you. Then you hear about some states where they are allowed six deer or more. That would just blow my mind to hunt deer all fall long when I wanted.

That would be tuff. In Michigan we can shoot 2 bucks than you can get doe permits for different zones. I usually have 4 tags in my wallet. Ive seen deer camps with 15-20 doe permits

In indiana you are only allowed one buck with any weapon. and then depending on the county you are allowed from one to eight doe. In the county I hunt you are allowed eight ( or was last year). The plus side is I always have meat in the freezer.

You guys need to come and hunt in WV. The laws are pretty liberal here. They actually just announced a one week doe early MZ season in September this year. Tom.

In other words, if you have permission on land in multiple counties you can shoot and shoot and shoot!!

I have permission in 4 counties ;D
Just no time to hunt more than 1.

We have it pretty darn good down here in Louisiana. The State started a tag system last year - 3 bucks & 3 does & 2 tom turkeys. My "Senior Resident" combination hunting and fishing license costs $5 and is good for all seasons.Bow season starts Oct 1st. Gun season mid-Nov thru end-Jan, with the first and last week of the gun season restricted to "primitive weapons". Ishoot three deer a year which fills my needs just fine.

Of course if you get drawed for both state park hunts and a military hunt. And if you have Urban land as i do, you can kill up to five bucks in indiana.I can only take two for sure the rest is on a draw too i guess. The Urban is a bow only though, the rest you can choose to put in for gun.
