Best type of epoxy to bed my Endeavor forend

In my never ending quest for better accuracy, I have decided that I want to epoxy bed the forend on my TC Endeavor. I'm not going to do the whole thing, mainly because it would be a PITA with the ramrod and all, but rather just bed the areas around the screws. My plan is to use some painters tape on the barrel & ramrod, apply the epoxy and then mount it exactly how I want it to be all the time. That way it should fit the same no matter how many times I remove it. Does this sound pointless or impossible to do to a muzzleloader???

Anyone have any tips on how to do this or recommendation on a specific type of epoxy? Thanks!!!

I have had good luck with bedding the forearm on an Encore., However I would reconsider if I were you and I would "solid bed" the entire forearm. Not just where the screws attach.

I used the Blue body puddy to do mine. However AccraGlass will work just as well.

Also be sure to take a little bit of material out of the barrel channel before you apply the bedding compound.

I also used the extended screws. I actually sell the extended screws on E-Bay.

The smartest way to do it is to use a couple of pillars around the screws. And if you bed it solid then you can use whatever you want to use for the pillars. I used copper plumbing tubing. I used this because the copper will conform to the contour of the barrel.

Do a google search on bedding the forearm for an Encore. You will find a lot of information on it.

My groups tightened up a good bit on my Encore rifles and barrels when I went to a solid bedded forearm. The only real problem is they are no longer interchangable after you bed one. However if you are not happy with the way it turned out then all you need is a piece of sandpaper and a piece of copper pipe so you can sand the bedding back out. Tom.

I am not sure you really want to 'bed' the forearm. The less contact it has on the barrel the better.

Might PM Lemoyne and discuss it with him. He spent a lot of time working the harmonics of his barrel on his Triumph and he ended up isolating the forearm from the barrel.

Anyway might be worth a check...

I am old school so I still use ACRAGLAS -it really has been good to me. Iknow another friend that used RVT Blue silicone on his Ruger #1's forearm - they are a real pain on the Ruger.

Bedding the forearm to the barrel is probably not the way to go. Some folks use rubber o-rings to isolate the forearm fromthe barrel. Before doing anything else, make sure that the inside of the forearm ears are not contacting the receiver.

There is a good reason to bed the forearm on the Encore. IMO it adds stability to an otherwise unstable system.

It is impossible to take the forearm pressure completely away from an Encore. Even if you use the rubber O-rings you will still have some pressure where the screws attach. I have fully bedded a couple of forearms on the Encore and accuracy has improved. Also you can bench shoot the rifle while the forearm is sitting on a tripod, and that is not possible with the O-rings or other way of trying to float the forearm. The pressure will effect the bullet. Below is a picture of a 6.5X284 that I fully bedded, and it is a shooter. Tom.

I shaved those the other day. I'll probably forget about the glass bedding part and just use some washer to index the forend so it goes in the same spot every time.
