I have not had a chance to shoot Triple Seven pellets in my Black Diamond XR. And since I injured my knee again, I am back on crutches. So I did not want to walk too far into the woods on them.
The target was 75 yards away. I was shooting two pellets. The bullet I decided to use was 200 grain Shockwaves.
The BD seems to like Triple Seven pellets. So to compare it to something, I used some Pyrodex RS 100 grains (as the rifle likes this load).
After all of that I started just shooting about anything I had in the shooting bag. It was very windy, and looked like rain, so I finally decided to call it a day.

Bummer!!!
Wow. T7 pellets gave you a better group than loose Pyrodex? I would not have expected that, but then I've never used pellets. Were you swabbing between shots with the Pyrodex also (there was no note on thattarget)?

Yes I was swabbing with the loose Pyrodex RS as well.

What about Grouse's bullets ever try any?
Well I actually did shoot some today. They were .452 diameter 250 grain hollow points. I used Harvester Crushed Rib sabots. As since these bullets liked large powder charges, I shot them with 120 grains of Pyrodex RS.
Since you asked, I went and took a picture of the group. Now this is the first time I have every shot these bullets so other then the fact they loaded beautiful, and seemed to group well, I have no other opinion at this point. I have no idea of the velocity 120 grains of Pyrodex would give, or how the bullet would perform on game animals.
I made a mistake in the label on the photo. They were not 200 grain. They were 250 grain. I want to do a lot more testing with these, but only got twenty of them so I have to be selective in my testing.

cayugad,
The 200grn Shockwaves are accurate in most Muzzleloaders. I actually have shot a few Deer with them as well. They worked just fine for me. I actually prefered the 220grn DeadCenter over the ShockWaves. They imo did a better job on game.
Those 250grn Lehigh's dont need the speed to shoot. It's the 200grn bullets in 50calibers that need pushed to stabilize.
I messed my knee up years ago and am too ornery (and too tight, so I have been told) to go and have the surgery done to fix it. So I just have to be real careful or it will suddenly go out.Sometimes it takes days for it to work back into place. So to speed that up I go back on crutches to take the strain off it.
It went out when I was trying to start a very hard to get started 30 year old wood splitter engine. You'd be surprised how much you pivot on your knee when you pull start one of them old Briggs & Stratton engines. So today I went and got a tune up kit for the thing and will throw a condenser and new points and plug in it. Then maybe it can start, I can get all this firewood split and stacked, and get back to important things like shooting muzzleloaders.

Dave all the talk from Grouse you would think he had some inside juice with those Leigh guys and they could send you a bunch for some field testing. They sure performed well on his pig hunt but with all your guns Im sure they could use the info for further product developments.
