Default Shopping topmorrow

Doing a little shopping tomorrow. Going to the "Going out of business" sale at Sportsmans Warehouse in Layfette, IN. Then hitting a place called Darrel's Custom Guns in Cayuga, IN. on the way home. I hope to give a good report........

Stuff was flying off the shelves like Walmart at Christmas time. Lots of bare shelving. I only fondled a couple of muzzleloaders, nothing I was intersted in, Knight Big Horn black/stainless with a thumbhole stock for $230. I don't think these will shoot 209 primers but maybe can be converted??? Those was all they had in black powder. I did get 3 cards of Nosler Partition .451 300gr with sabots 10 count for 9.99. Not that great of a deal but I bought the last three they had just to try them out. No XTP's or Speer Gold Dots. A Kershaw lockback knife made in the USA 3.5 blade they clam retails for $60 got it for $30, and some wool hunting socks. I was told they increased the price on stuff before the discounting sale (most places do) but I think I did OK. At Darrel's in Cayuga he was pretty empty on the shelves as well. I got there an hour before closing and he said earlier they were three lines at his counter with 10-15 people in each line.He said it's been this way every Saturday since Obama Longa Ding Dong got in office. He only had 3 Encore's, again something I wasn't interested in. I was wanting to find a Triumph. Ialso handled a H&R Ultra Slug Hunter in 12 gauge, that thing is like swinging a club. I'm interested in getting one in 20 gauge for my son. He took my number and will call when one comes in. He's got 8 on order. All in all it was a nice day for a drive, bought a few goodies, and spent time with my son. I'd do this every Saturday if I could.

You know what I find funny... merchants complain that their business sales are slow and that things are bad. Yet a company lowers the REAL PRICE 10-20% and suddenly you can't keep the stuff on the shelves. Have fun at them sales everyone, spend lots of money, and buy it before I get there.

sjs - Why don't you look for a used 870 youth model or a new H&R youth combo for your son? I think you can get the H&R in 410 and 22LR or 20 ga and 22LR.!?!?!

Because he's 20 years old 6'2" and 260lbs......He just started to deer hunt with me last fall. He's played football from kindergarden until he got into college so he never could go hunting with post season playoffs and such. He's shot my 1187, 870, and Mossberg 500 slug guns plus my muzzleloaders but he wants his own and he shouldered a 20 gauge USH with a thumbhole stock and really likes it. I though I'd buy him one. You know poor kid is in college, mom and dad paying for everything, tuition, apartment, food, car expenses...

LOL - That's funny. Here I thought he was just a baby. Well I guess you're never too old (or too big) to start hunting.
