Anyone ever shot black talon in there Muzzleloader?
For years i have pushed a 44 caliber black talon with 120 grains of powder out of my MK-85 Predator. These bullets worked great and really did damage on the inside. Killed many deer with this combination. One particular kill i had wiht this setup was a deer coming right at me, i was on the ground, the buck was about 75 yards looking right at me. I put the shot right in the middle and pulled the trigger, after the smoke cleared i couldnt see the deer anywhere, i walked up where the deer was and there he layed. I rolled him over and he had a scar down the whole length of the deer, the black talon had skinned him and lodged itself in the spine in the back of the deer. it was amazing. If anyone has ever seen black talon once they are open you would understand why they were taken off the shelves and market some time ago, the sharp points that are created are razor sharp and by that bullet opening up on one side going down the deer it pulled it in the deers spine and did the job.
Black talon is out there but its price per shot keep people away from it...
Anyone every shoot any black talon or have any they are willing to sell?
Thanks

The current Winchester Ranger "T" line is an improved "Black Talon" bullet. Also minus the black coating. I have not seen just the bullets for sale. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think Winchester sells the bullets seperatly. I agree though, it would make a good ML bullet.

No they do not sell the bullets separatly. I have to get the 44 rounds and then pull the bullets from the casing. They work excellant. I will see if i can find my recovered bullet and get a picture here. Thanks for the tip, i will look into the new bullet. There is the ranger model, but the barbs that are on the black talon are not the same anymore, they dont curl back like the original black talon.
