Default Question: Hornady 50 cal 45-300 gr. SST ML??

I bought a box of these bullets and the box says "50 cal 45-300 gr." Is this a 45 or 50 cal bullet? What does the 45 mean? I want to try it in my T/C Omega.

Thanks

The Hornady SST bullets you have are a combination of50 caliber sabots (for 50 caliber barrels)that contain45 caliberbullets. They are fine for your Omega.

Most MLer bullets are .452 or .451 and are "45 cal", the sabot that goes around the bullet to hold it in place make up the .05" to fit in your bore. Sabot tightness is one of the most important factors in MLer shooting for accuracy.
