Default pics of my new bullet.

I got my bullets today. I hope before summer to get casting equipment so i can make my own. In the mean time i bought some from a guy in Ohio that makes them for long range competitions. They are sized at .448 and weigh 538 gr.I hope by next week to be able to try them out and have some fun experimenting. i plan on starting with 75 gr of 2f and then working up to 100 gr. of 2f. I would like to have some 1 1/2 f but there isn't any around here , so i will stick with 2f for now. I will post some results next week once I get the gun and get to shooting. The gun is suppose to be here this week. ( Hopefully )

Looks like that'll pack a wallop! What rifle are you shooting it out of?

What rifle are you going to be shooting that out of?

The rifle is a Pedersoli Gibbs .451 cal. It was suppose to be shipped today. Hopefully before the weekend it will arrive.
It was a hard choice deciding. I almost went with a 45 cal volunteer or a 45 cal whitworth. I finally became convinced that the Gibbs would fill the bill better for what i wanted to do. I got a box of paper patched bullets also. I will see which shoots better. Grease groove or paper patch. The grease groove are 10.00 cheaper per 50. But once I can cast my own it won't matter. I am hoping to sight it in eventually at 200 yard zero . This mainly for fun and target shooting. The guy I got my bullets from actually holds the 800 yard,900 and 1000 yard record. I ranged 500 yards a couple days ago and I think i would have a hard time hitting a barn at that distance.
Remember this is just for fun. not hunting. If I use it for hunting then I would stay within my range which is 125 yards or less with open sights .

The bullet looks really good. Is there a way to put a deep hollow point in those bullets? Or is there, i cant tell by the way your holding it.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm not sure what the Gibbs rifle looks like. Could you post a pic once it comes in? And a range report once you start shooting, of course

http://cherrys.com/pedpics/L225b.jpg Gibbs Deluxe woah!!

http://cherrys.com/pedpics/S225b.jpg Gibbs Standard

http://cherrys.com/pedpics/s278b.jpg Mortimer Whitworth standard

http://cherrys.com/pedpics/S206b.jpg Missouri River Hawken - just because I like it.

I wouldn't mind owning one of each. That last one would be more my speed if I could put a scope on it.

That Deluxe sure is nice looking. Mine is just the standard. Hopefully it will shoot as good as they claim. Actually it will probably shoot a whole lot better than I ever could anyway.
GROUSE: the bullet is a round tip .I don't know if you can get a mould for a hollow point or not. I haven't checked around yet.
