I went outside today and there was no wind blowing. Quite unusual, so I decided to go and shoot a little bit. I went to get the Hawken because I haven't tried the barrels for it yet, but as I was getting stuff together i saw my Kodiak pro 45 cal. I never got it sighted in when I got it about 1 1/2 years ago. At that time I only had some powerbelts and they didn't want to shoot, They were all over the place. I put it away and even though a few months ago i found some Platinum 300 gr powerbelts and some Hornady sst 200 gr , I never seemed to get around to trying it again. I had almost wrote it off as a tomato stick. Anyway I decided to take it instead. I took the leftover 777 pellets since they were open and getting old. I took the 300 gr Platinum powerbelts and the 200 gr sst. federal primers and 777 primers.
I started with the 300 gr Platinums and 2 pellets I was surprised with the 3 shot group as it was high but not to open at least. I decided to try at 50 yards Shot 1 was good but i don't know what happened on shot 2. It was to muddy to drive in the pasture so I walked and was shooting sitting down with sticks. So it was probably just me.
Next I went to 100 yards . Shot 1 with the powerbelt was a little low and left. I decided to use a 777 primer and had a hangfire #2 with the Hornady. Threw the 777 primers back in the bag and stuck with federal. I only had enough pellets for 3 more shots so I decided to shoot the hornady 200 gr sst's. They were my best group as you can see. I think the sst's are probably the one for this gun;' Although i didn't try any powder combinations . Just the 2 pellets. I guess i gave up on this gun way to early. it may be OK after all. Bynow the wind was getting bad , Should have known Now the upload keeps saying connection interrupted so if I can, I will get the other target on here when this thing works right
That's a pretty nice group you got with the SST's. I bet if you switched to loose powder and played around with the charges some more, you could dial it in even closer. My .45 CVA likes the 200 grain SST's too - they're by a slight margin the most accurate bullets for me (just a little bit better than the 200 grain XTP's and 195 grain Dead Centers). I haven't used them for hunting yet, though. I think Spaniel has used them extensively and really likes them for deer hunting. Nice report!

That is some real nice shooting. That rifle is a real shooter. And should make a good hunting rifle.

Really nice shooting. Seems the farther away you get the better you shoot. And those SSTs look like they are gonna work. Good luck with them.
