Guys remember the post a few days ago regarding HR-45?
I got a reply back from both my congressmen. Here is one reply and my reply back to him.
I hope you guys did your part..........
Mr. Kanjorski
I thank you for your continued support of my second amendment rights. And in particular to this current bill (HR-45).
My thought on this is - Why would I require a 'license' to own a firearm? The second amendment already grants me this right as a law abiding citizen of the United States of America. It would be the same as being required to have a license for voicing my opinion or a license to be of a choosen religion as granted by the first amendment.
We already have sufficient laws on gun control. We need these existing laws enforced.More gun control and registration will not do any good at reducing crime. It will just cause more useless spending of tax dollars in an already suffering economy.
Thanks you for your understanding in this matter.

Dear Mr.
Thank you for informing me of your concerns regarding H.R. 45, the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act. I appreciated hearing from you on this important issue.
Since coming to Congress, I have been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and will continue to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. Throughout the debates we have each year on gun control legislation, my goal has been to preserve our Second Amendment rights while keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. As such, I have regularly voted for legislation to preserve this important constitutional protection and have opposed bills that would strip away the right to bear arms.
As you may know, Congressman Bobby Rush of Illinois introduced H.R. 45 on January 6, 2009. If enacted into law, this legislation would prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless that person has been issued a firearm license under this Act or a state system certified under this Act and such license has not been invalidated or revoked. In order to obtain a firearm license under this Act, an individual must provide the U.S. Attorney General a photograph, address, date of birth, thumbprint, completion of a written exam, and signature.
H.R. 45 would also prohibit transferring or receiving a firearm unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license, the license is verified, and the dealer records a tracking authorization number. It would also direct the U.S. Attorney General to establish and maintain a federal record of sale system.
Following its introduction, the House leadership referred H.R. 45 to the Judiciary Committee for review. Should I have the opportunity to consider this legislation during the 111th Congress, you can rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind and take actions as appropriate to uphold the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please feel free to contact me again about any issue of interest or concern to you.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Kanjorski
Member of Congress
