just never buy CCI (non magnum) standard #11 caps. They are junk. I like the CCI Magnum, and the Remington 40% hotter, and the best are RWS Dynamite Noble 1075 plus.

Nothing beat those RWS 1075. They are undersized a bit (hence the 1075 designation).T/C nipples require them to be seated by pressing them down fully with the hammer. Once on they will not come off without prying with a knife or whatever is handy.

Popa few brands of caps with no powder. You'll easily hear the difference.

I bought a few thousand Hy Score when I heard they were going to stop shipping them from overseas, I think they are by far the best. The best available locally that I know of would be the RWS. Lee

I thinkI remember someone posting a chart or a refrence from a book that listed how hot each were... but my memory isn't the best...

Anyone else remember that or know where to find it?

I've got some RWS Number 11's, and musket capsI bought 25 years ago and they still work today. Now the ones I left in my cappers don't look so hot but they work.

TNHagies - Is this what you were thinking about?

I posted this last year on MM and someone brought it over to here,
so here it is again;

On page 83 of DaveEhrig's book "Muzzleloading for Deer & Turkey",
he lists some information on percussion caps and primers.

#11 standard cap - 6.53 cc of gas at 3,024 degrees F when fired.

#11 magnum cap - 7.59 cc of gas at 3,717 degrees F when fired.

U.S. #2 musket cap - 14.36 cc of gas at 3,717 degrees F when fired.

#209 shotgun primer - 21.98 cc of gas at 3,024 degrees F when fired.

#200 rifle primer - 11.68 cc of gas at 3,024 degrees F when fired.

Yep that's it. I was thinking it listed a bunch of #11s but I guess not. Oh well, still helpful though.

I think Marissa Torme is a good 10 - I don't think I would rate her an 11 though.
Anyway, I guess you are talking percussion caps. I have to agree with Gayugad on the std CCIs. I've had a few hangfires with them. The CCI Magnums are pretty good. I also picked up a bunch of Winchester #11 Mags at Walmart at the end of the season for something like $2.50 a tin. I hope they work good cause I grabbed about 5 or 6 tins.
